New Delhi, October 16: Bomb threats targeting flights in India continue to cause disruptions, with two more flights receiving threats on Wednesday. An Akasa Air flight (QP 1335) heading from Delhi to Bengaluru, carrying 177 passengers, including three infants and seven crew members, was forced to return to Delhi. Similarly, an IndiGo flight (6E 651) from Mumbai to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad, where passengers were safely evacuated after the aircraft was isolated.

Series of Bomb Threats Disrupt Air Travel

These incidents add to a troubling trend of bomb threats affecting 12 flights in the past three days. Flights targeted on Tuesday included:

  • Air India (Delhi-Chicago)
  • IndiGo (Dammam-Lucknow)
  • Air India Express (Ayodhya-Bengaluru)
  • SpiceJet (Darbhanga-Mumbai)
  • Akasa Air (Bagdogra-Bengaluru)
  • Alliance Air (Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi)
  • Air India Express (Madurai-Singapore)

On Monday, three other flights were affected by hoax bomb threats:

  • Air India AI119 (Mumbai to New York)
  • IndiGo 6E1275 (Mumbai to Muscat)
  • IndiGo 6E56 (Mumbai to Jeddah)

Government and Security Agencies Respond

The alarming surge in threats prompted high-level meetings. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu convened a meeting with officials from the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Additionally, a Parliamentary Standing Committee met to assess the situation.

Authorities are actively investigating the incidents, with some suspects reportedly identified. Officials are also monitoring activity on the dark web to track down potential sources behind these threats.

Passengers Advised to Stay Alert

Although all flights were safely evacuated, these repeated threats have raised concerns over aviation security. Travelers have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security protocols as investigations continue.
