HAZARIBAGH (Jharkhand): On Wednesday afternoon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several development projects valued at over Rs 83,300 crore in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. This visit marks his second trip to the state within 17 days, following his earlier visit to Jamshedpur on September 15.
Using his official BJP social media account, Modi expressed, “Today, I am once again privileged to participate in the development journey of Jharkhand. Just a few days ago in Jamshedpur, I launched several projects worth hundreds of crores for the state.”
He added, “Thousands of impoverished residents of Jharkhand have received their own permanent homes under the PM Awas Yojana. Today, we’ve laid the foundation and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 80,000 crore, which aim to benefit and uplift the tribal community.”
To enhance the educational infrastructure for tribal groups, the Prime Minister inaugurated 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and laid the groundwork for 25 additional EMRS, totaling over Rs 2,800 crore. The Prime Minister’s Office stated that this initiative will reach around 63,000 villages across 549 districts and 2,740 blocks in 30 states and Union Territories, impacting more than 5 crore tribal individuals.
Additionally, the Prime Minister launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan program, which has a total budget of over Rs 79,150 crore. Sources from the party noted that PM Modi met with tribal representatives in Ranchi before proceeding to Gandhi Maidan in Hazaribagh to participate in the conclusion of the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra.
Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren noted the significant enthusiasm from the public to welcome him. Jharkhand is expected to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, as the current government’s term concludes in January 2025. The Election Commission has not yet released the election schedule.
In the 2020 assembly elections, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha secured 30 seats, the BJP won 25, and the Congress captured 16. Earlier today, PM Modi commemorated a decade of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, declaring the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ the largest and most successful movement of this century, likely to be remembered by future generations.
He remarked that the Swachh Bharat Mission has showcased the people’s energy through public participation and leadership.
