HYDERABAD: Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya took aim at Telangana Congress Minister Konda Surekha over her comments regarding his divorce from ex-wife and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, he labeled Surekha’s claims as “absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable,” emphasizing that the decision to divorce was made mutually.
He expressed that divorce is one of the most painful choices a person can face and stated, “After considerable thought, my former spouse and I made the decision to part ways in a peaceful manner, respecting our differing life paths and moving forward with dignity as two mature individuals.” He dismissed the surrounding rumors as “baseless and completely ridiculous,” explaining that he remained silent out of respect for his former spouse and family.
Criticizing Minister Surekha, Naga stated, “The claim made by Minister Konda Surekha is not only false but also utterly ridiculous and unacceptable. Women deserve support and respect. It’s shameful to exploit the personal decisions of celebrities for media attention.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Samantha Ruth Prabhu also addressed Surekha’s comments, asserting that her divorce was a “personal matter.” She posted on her Instagram story in the evening, clarifying that their divorce was reached on “mutual consent and amicable” terms, with no political scheming involved. She urged everyone to stop speculating about her divorce, stating, “Being a woman and working in a glamorous industry where we’re often objectified, to experience love and heartbreak, and to keep fighting requires immense courage and strength.”
