Actor Nagarjuna has lodged a defamation lawsuit against Telangana Congress minister Konda Surekha, sparked by her comments on the divorce of his son, Naga Chaitanya, and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The case has been filed in Hyderabad’s district court under section 356 of the Bhartiya Nayay Sanhita.
On Thursday, Naga Chaitanya shared the complaint on X without any accompanying text.
The complaint asserts that Nagarjuna alleges Surekha, while attending a Gandhi Jayanti event on October 2, 2024, made defamatory remarks about him and his family using her public platform.
According to the complaint, both Nagarjuna’s family and Surekha’s family hold a prestigious reputation in society. Nagarjuna’s son, Naga Chaitanya, is a well-regarded actor within the Telugu film industry, upholding the family’s cinematic legacy.
The Akkineni family has a long history of contributions to Indian cinema and is celebrated across generations. Samantha, Naga Chaitanya’s ex-wife, is also a highly regarded actress with a dedicated fan base and a solid reputation.
Despite their highly publicized marriage in 2017 ending in divorce in 2021 due to personal differences, both have remained respected for their professional achievements and uphold a dignified public persona.
The family’s public stature continues to strengthen Nagarjuna’s respected position in Indian cinema, highlighting the admiration and esteem they receive from peers and fans alike. His exemplary reputation has been cultivated over decades of hard work in the entertainment industry. Attempts to damage this reputation with false claims not only jeopardize his professional legacy but also deeply affect his personal life and the family’s respected standing. Thus, safeguarding his honor and reputation is of utmost importance.
