NEW DELHI – Excitement filled the air outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi early Tuesday morning as supporters began celebrating ahead of the vote counting for the state elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. The Congress party has surpassed the halfway mark in Jammu and Kashmir, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in Haryana, signaling promising early trends.

Enthusiastic Congress devotees waved flags, danced to the rhythmic beats of dhol, and lit firecrackers near the Delhi office. The atmosphere was electric as conch shells echoed, marking the commencement of the vote tallying process.

By 9:15 AM, preliminary results showed the Congress leading with 49 seats in Jammu and Kashmir, followed by the BJP with 28 seats and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) securing 8 seats. In Haryana, Congress held over 50 seats, with the BJP trailing at 33.

In Haryana, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is actively working to reclaim leadership from the BJP, which has governed for the past decade under Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Nayab Singh Saini. Supporters of Hooda, gathered outside his residence in Rohtak, expressed strong confidence in a Congress victory, predicting they will secure over 75 out of 90 seats. “The BJP has consistently neglected the truth and failed to deliver on their promises. Congress will prevail, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda is poised to become Chief Minister once again,” stated one enthusiastic supporter.

As the vote counting progresses, all eyes remain on these pivotal states, with celebrations already underway at the Congress headquarters reflecting the party’s optimistic outlook.
