Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan’s latest combination, Vettaiyan, is maintaining its impressive momentum at the box office. On its third day, the action-drama film amassed ₹26 crore across all languages, according to a report by Sacnilk. Celebrating its first Saturday, the movie achieved a remarkable 63.81% occupancy in the Tamil market alone. To date, Vettaiyan has grossed a total of ₹81.7 crore from ticket sales.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan has been released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The film delves into critical issues such as encounter killings and corruption within the education sector. Notably, this movie marks Amitabh Bachchan’s debut in Tamil cinema and features an ensemble cast that includes Manju Warrier, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati in pivotal roles.

The audio launch event for Vettaiyan took place in Chennai, where Amitabh Bachchan, unable to attend in person, sent a heartfelt video message to his co-star Rajinikanth. In his message, Bachchan reminisced about their time together on the sets of the 1991 film Hum, highlighting Rajinikanth’s humble and grounded personality. “I used to rest in my AC vehicle while shooting for Hum, and Rajini slept on the floor during breaks. Watching him be so simple, I came out of the vehicle and rested outside,” Bachchan shared.

Expressing his gratitude, Amitabh Bachchan stated, “Vettaiyan is my first Tamil film, and I am very honored to work with the supreme of all stars, Rajinikanth.” This marks the reunion of the two iconic actors after 33 years, with their last collaboration being Hum in 1991.

Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan is a pan-India project that is currently facing stiff competition from other releases such as Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, and Jigra, featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, both of which hit the theaters on October 11.

With its compelling narrative and star-studded cast, Vettaiyan continues to draw audiences, showcasing Rajinikanth’s enduring appeal and the film’s strong performance at the box office.
