Gurugram: A dangerous incident on the Golf Course Road has raised concerns after an unmarked speed breaker caused several vehicles, including a BMW, to go airborne. A viral video shared on social media showed a speeding BMW hitting the unexpected speed bump, lifting three feet into the air, and landing roughly 15 feet away. The car’s rear bumper scraped the road upon landing, and it sped away with noticeable damage.
In the same clip, two trucks were also seen flying off the same unmarked breaker, underscoring the hazardous situation. The breaker is located near the Centrum Plaza building, opposite HR26 Dhaba, according to Bunny Punia, an editor at 91Wheels.
Golf Course Road, known for its luxurious residential properties like DLF Camellias, Tulip Monsella, M3M Golf Estate, and DLF Magnolias, has now come under scrutiny for poor road safety practices. Residents and drivers expressed frustration online, calling the unmarked breaker a safety hazard.
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) responded to the viral post, stating, “DLF is taking up further necessary action in this matter. Thank you.”
Many users criticized the lack of markings. One user wrote, “This happened to me yesterday. It’s criminal to leave speed breakers unmarked on such high-speed roads.” Another added, “The intent behind the breaker is valid—it’s meant to slow vehicles before the lane narrows at a U-turn. But the absence of markings makes it dangerous.”
The incident has sparked discussions about road safety and proper signage, with residents urging the authorities to implement better measures to prevent further accidents.
