Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a Hyderabad man allegedly shot his girlfriend’s father on Sunday after the father sent his daughter to the United States in an attempt to break up their relationship. The incident took place in Venkateswara Colony within the jurisdiction of Saroornagar police station in the Rachakonda Commissionerate area.
The victim, identified as 57-year-old Revanth Anand, sustained critical injuries when the accused, 25-year-old Balwinder Singh, reportedly shot him in the eye with an airgun following an argument. According to police sources, Balwinder had been friends with Anand’s 23-year-old daughter for several years, but the relationship was not approved by her father, a local businessman.
After unsuccessful attempts to dissuade his daughter from seeing Balwinder, Anand made the decision to send her abroad to put distance between them. Upset by this move, Balwinder confronted Anand at his home, leading to a heated argument that escalated when Balwinder fired his airgun, seriously injuring Anand.
Police arrived promptly at the scene and transported Anand to the hospital, where he is currently under medical care. Balwinder fled immediately after the attack but was later apprehended by the authorities. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine additional details.
