Washington State: In a deeply tragic event on Halloween night, a married couple in Longview, Washington, fatally wounded each other in a violent altercation while their 11-year-old son, immersed in video games with earbuds on, remained unaware of the deadly confrontation unfolding just rooms away.
The incident, which occurred on October 31 in Longview—roughly 50 miles north of Portland, Oregon—came to light only after the boy discovered the bodies of his parents in the kitchen. Authorities identified the deceased as 38-year-old Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz and 39-year-old Cecilia Robles Ochoa. According to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, both suffered fatal injuries: Alvarado Saenz died from multiple stab wounds to the chest, while Robles Ochoa had both stab and gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders arrived promptly after the boy’s 911 call but were unable to revive either parent. The young boy, who was the only other person in the home, had been unaware of the incident until he left his room and found the tragic scene.
Authorities noted that the couple had been experiencing significant relationship issues and were planning to separate. During their investigation, detectives recovered a knife and a gun from the scene. The firearm, reported as stolen from Alvarado Saenz’s workplace only after the incident, is currently under forensic analysis.
As investigators continue to piece together the tragic events of the night, the community remains in shock over the devastating loss and the impact on the young boy, who is now left without his parents.
