BENGALURU: Church Street, one of Bengaluru’s iconic shopping and cultural hubs, is temporarily closed to the public due to road repair work undertaken by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The street, a favorite destination for both locals and tourists, is now barricaded and off-limits to vehicular traffic. This closure has caused a noticeable spike in congestion on Brigade Road, a nearby thoroughfare. Traffic police have advised commuters traveling towards Brigade Road to remain cautious and plan their routes accordingly.

The closure has disrupted the lively atmosphere of Church Street, impacting vehicle movement and affecting local businesses. Traders in the area have expressed concerns about the disruption, urging the BBMP to complete the repairs promptly to minimize losses.

“This street is not just a shopping destination; it’s an experience. The sooner the repairs are completed, the better it will be for everyone,” said a local shop owner.

While the repairs are necessary to ensure better infrastructure in the long term, the inconvenience has highlighted the need for efficient project execution to reduce its impact on residents, visitors, and businesses.
