In a bizarre turn of events, a notorious gangster from Uttar Pradesh, Salman, who was recently externed from Meerut district, managed to get married in Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, but will be absent from his own wedding reception due to the imposed district ban.

Salman, who tied the knot on Friday night, faces a ban that prohibits him from entering Meerut for six months, just days before his scheduled reception on November 26 at Castle View Mandap. While the bride’s family is expected to attend the event, Salman himself will remain absent due to legal restrictions.

What Is Externment?

Externment is a legal measure that restricts a person, often with a criminal background, from residing or entering a specific locality for a defined period. Salman’s expulsion was carried out under this provision, enforced by the Kotwali police, who delivered the notice to his home on Thursday.

Family Caught Off-Guard

Salman’s brother, Aamir, expressed frustration over the sudden imposition of the ban, claiming the family had no prior notice to contest the decision. “We were not given time to respond or present our case in court. It feels like an abrupt and harsh action,” he said.

Aamir also revealed that Salman has been living in Delhi for the past six months, working in the crockery business, and no new criminal cases have been registered against him in the last five years. However, Salman had been booked under the Goonda Act previously, which likely influenced the district administration’s decision.

A Stealthy Nikah

Despite the restrictions, Salman discreetly reached Sikandrabad to attend the wedding ceremony on Friday night. However, local law enforcement seemed unaware of the event. “We have no information about Salman’s marriage,” Sikandrabad Station House Officer Ravi Ratan Singh told PTI.

Police on High Alert for Reception

While the family prepares for the reception without the groom, the Meerut police have increased vigilance to ensure no violations occur.

Salman’s absence from his own reception adds an unusual twist to what could have been a celebratory event, underscoring the complexities of balancing personal life with legal restrictions.
