Indian Army Rescues 600 Residents Stranded in Cyclone Fengal’s Aftermath

Puducherry: In a swift and heroic response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Fengal, the Indian Army launched rescue operations to save hundreds of residents stranded in severely waterlogged areas. A Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) team, comprising troops from the Chennai Garrison Battalion and led by Major Ajay Sangwan, successfully evacuated approximately 600 individuals from Krishna Nagar, Kuber Nagar, and Jiva Nagar.

The operation, requisitioned by the district administration, focused on Krishna Nagar, one of the worst-affected areas in Puducherry, where water levels rose to an alarming 5 feet in some locations. Army personnel worked tirelessly to navigate the inundated streets and rescue civilians trapped in around 500 homes.

The swift deployment of the Indian Army highlights the severity of the situation as Cyclone Fengal’s impact continues to unfold, leaving many areas submerged and residents in dire need of assistance.

Authorities and rescue teams remain on high alert as relief operations continue across the region.
