Nagpur: In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old boy allegedly threatened his mother with a sword after she refused to give him ₹10,000 to purchase a phone. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Nagpur’s Jaripatka area, according to police officials.
The boy’s mother, who works to support the family, returned home when the argument began. Upon being denied the money due to financial constraints, the teenager reportedly became aggressive.
“He abused his mother, threatened her and his sister with a sword, and vandalized household items in a fit of rage,” a Jaripatka police official said.
The mother lodged a complaint, prompting police to register a case. The boy fled the house shortly after the altercation, and a search operation has been launched to apprehend him.
The case highlights the growing concerns of financial stress within families and the influence of material demands on strained relationships. Authorities are investigating the matter further.
