Hyderabad:
In a chilling case that has left Hyderabad in shock, a 45-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife, chopped up her body, and attempted to destroy the remains by boiling them in a pressure cooker. The accused, Guru Murthy, a former soldier now working as a security guard with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), reportedly confessed to the horrific crime during police questioning.
The victim, 35-year-old Venkata Madhavi, was reported missing by her family on January 16. Suspicion fell on her husband when his behavior raised red flags. “The parents had lodged a missing complaint with us. The husband also accompanied them, but his demeanor made us suspicious. When we questioned him, he confessed to the crime,” Police Inspector Nagaraju stated.
According to police, Guru Murthy revealed the gruesome details of his actions. He allegedly killed his wife, dismembered her body in the bathroom, and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker. Over the course of three days, he reportedly separated the bones, ground them with a pestle, and boiled them repeatedly before disposing of the remains in a nearby lake.
Frequent Domestic Fights
The couple, who have two children — a boy and a girl — reportedly had frequent arguments. However, the exact motive and sequence of events leading to the murder remain unclear. The police are currently verifying the accused’s confession and investigating whether any additional factors contributed to the crime.
The case has sent shockwaves across the city, raising concerns about domestic violence and mental health. As authorities continue their probe, the heinous nature of the crime has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice for the victim.
Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
