Chitradurga, Karnataka, October 16: In a poignant turn of events, the wife of Renukaswamy—who was allegedly kidnapped and tortured to death by Kannada superstar Darshan and his associates—gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday. Sahana, the victim’s wife, was five months pregnant at the time of her husband’s tragic death. She is currently under medical care at a private hospital in Chitradurga.
“My Son Has Come Back”: Grandfather Overwhelmed with Emotion
Kashinathaiah, the father of Renukaswamy, expressed deep gratitude to the hospital staff, saying both the mother and newborn were in good health.
“The doctors ensured a safe delivery, free of cost, for which I am immensely thankful,” he said tearfully. “My son has come back in the form of this baby,” he added, overwhelmed by emotion. The baby was born at 6:55 p.m., according to the family.
Kashinathaiah also thanked Dr. Mallikarjun, who had closely monitored Sahana’s pregnancy, ensuring her well-being with regular check-ups twice a week.
Family Calls for Swift Justice
Despite the personal joy of the newborn’s arrival, the family remains focused on seeking justice. They have requested that the murder trial be expedited through a fast-track court. They welcomed the earlier court decision to reject the bail pleas of Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, who are accused of orchestrating Renukaswamy’s kidnapping and murder.
Background of the Case
Renukaswamy, the victim, was allegedly tortured to death on June 11, reportedly due to sending inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, an associate of Darshan. Following the incident, Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 others were arrested. The case has sparked widespread attention, with accusations ranging from custodial abuse to investigative delays.
Darshan’s legal team has described the charges as exaggerated, comparing the case to an “Arabian Nights” story. They also argued there were procedural lapses, including delays in the post-mortem and eyewitness testimony.
However, Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna Kumar strongly contested these claims, insisting that Darshan had confessed to kicking Renukaswamy in the chest. Kumar argued that bail should be denied due to the severity of the crime.
Family Prioritizes Health and Healing
Kashinathaiah, when asked about the ongoing case, said, “Right now, my priority is the health of the mother and baby. Justice will follow in its own time.”
This emotionally charged case remains under public scrutiny as the family navigates the bittersweet experience of loss and new beginnings.
