New Delhi: Renowned music composer AR Rahman has issued a stern legal notice addressing individuals and platforms spreading defamatory and “objectionable” content about him and his family. The notice comes just days after Rahman publicly announced his separation from his wife, Saira Banu, after 29 years of marriage.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rahman shared the legal notice issued by his legal team, stating, “Notice to all slanderers from ARR’s Legal Team.” The notice demands the immediate removal of defamatory content within a one-hour to 24-hour timeframe, warning that failure to comply could result in legal action.
The notice highlights the distress caused to Rahman and his family due to baseless rumors and false narratives. “This only shows the social media persons who intend to harm the reputation of my client are being content starved for their productions and are inventing highly imaginary and false stories to defame my client merely for their cheap short-lived publicity,” the statement read.
The Announcement and Aftermath
AR Rahman and Saira Banu had announced their decision to part ways after nearly three decades of marriage. In an emotional post, Rahman wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.”
The announcement was soon followed by another separation disclosure, this time from bassist Mohini Dey, who has collaborated extensively with Rahman. Dey announced her separation from her husband, Mark Kutsch, fueling speculation and rumors.
Protecting Reputation and Privacy
Rahman’s legal team emphasized the distress caused by the spread of false narratives, urging those responsible to take immediate action. “My client informs the hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content within the next one hour and a maximum time duration of 24 hours,” the notice stated.
The couple, who tied the knot in 1995, share three children—daughters Khatija and Raheema, and son Ameen. The family is now navigating through this challenging time while addressing the harm caused by defamatory content on social media.
A Stand Against Online Rumors
AR Rahman’s move highlights the growing issue of online defamation and the impact it has on personal lives. By issuing the notice, Rahman has made it clear that he will not tolerate baseless accusations and unwarranted speculation about his family.
As the story unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible reporting and ethical behavior on social media platforms.
