BENGALURU: To make the iconic Church Street more pedestrian-friendly, Bengaluru’s traffic police have prohibited the entry of autorickshaws and goods vehicles on the street. Violators of this new regulation will face fines.
The Cubbon Park traffic police have installed barricades and displayed signs restricting these vehicles from accessing Church Street. Authorities explain that the movement of goods vehicles and autorickshaws has been impeding pedestrian flow and causing traffic jams.
Church Street attracts a large number of visitors, both locals and tourists, especially on weekends. The restrictions on autorickshaws and goods vehicles are expected to ease congestion and enhance the overall experience for pedestrians. Traffic police have announced that anyone violating the ban will be fined ₹500.
