Bengaluru: Continuous rainfall soaked the city and parts of Bengaluru Rural district from Monday night into Tuesday morning, causing disruptions for college students and office commuters. The Meteorological Department has predicted intermittent showers for the next two to three days.
Several areas across the city—including Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar, Majestic, Seshadripuram, Parappana Agrahara, HMT Layout, RR Nagar, Uttarahalli, Sadashivanagar, Okalipuram, Windsor Manor Bridge, Shivananda Circle, Chalukya Circle, KR Circle, Goraguntepalya, Peenya Flyover, Anekal, Bannerghatta, Attibele, Electronics City, and others—experienced rainfall, waterlogged roads, and traffic jams on Tuesday morning.
According to the weather department, the downpour is due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. Districts expected to witness heavy rain over the next three days include Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Mysuru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday and Wednesday, with an orange alert for Thursday. Coastal districts like Udupi and Dakshina Kannada are likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder, while regions such as Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mandya, and Mysuru are expected to receive moderate rainfall.
