Bengaluru: A 44-year-old English lecturer named Shabana attempted suicide by ingesting pills in her classroom at a private pre-university (PU) college in Tilak Nagar on Monday.
According to reports, Shabana was distressed due to alleged harassment by the college principal, which may have led her to take this drastic step. Earlier that morning, she had a meeting with the principal in his office before returning to her classroom, where the incident took place.
She was promptly transported to a nearby private hospital and is currently out of danger, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Sarah Fatima.
The Tilak Nagar police have initiated an investigation based on information received from the hospital. Officers visited the college to gather evidence, and a case has been officially registered
