Tumakuru : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has officially initiated the construction of an international cricket stadium in Tumakuru, marking a significant step in the district’s development journey. The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony saw the CM wielding a bat, emphasizing the importance of the project for the region.

“We have allocated 50 acres of land to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for this stadium. This initiative will not only cater to cricket enthusiasts but also boost Tumakuru’s economic growth and overall development,” said Siddaramaiah during the event. He urged officials to expedite the construction process to meet the expectations of sports lovers in the area.

Mysuru to Get a Cricket Stadium Too

The Chief Minister also announced plans for a cricket stadium in Mysuru, following a request from KSCA. “We are committed to providing land in Mysuru as well,” he assured, signaling the government’s intent to enhance sports infrastructure across Karnataka.

Event Highlights

The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Home Minister and Tumakuru district in-charge G. Parameshwara, Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna, Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge, KSCA President Raghuram Bhat, and other state officials and MLAs.

A Sharp Retort to MLA Suresh Gowda

In response to MLA Suresh Gowda’s alleged failed protest during the visit, Siddaramaiah remained unshaken. “I’ve been in politics for 41 years, served as Leader of the Opposition twice, and now as Chief Minister for the second time. If I was someone to be intimidated, I wouldn’t be standing here today. I have nothing to hide or fear,” he asserted, brushing off the protest attempt with characteristic poise.
