BENGALURU: The Defence Ministry has officially allocated 12.34 acres of land to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for widening the road from Lower Agaram to Sarjapur, with an additional 10.77 acres awaiting approval, according to Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.

During a meeting at Vidhana Soudha with Commandant Lt Gen Basant Kumar Repswal, ASC Centre and College, Shivakumar later held a press conference. He stated that the travel time from MG Road to Bellandur will decrease to just 5-8 minutes after construction, down from approximately one hour, which will help reduce traffic congestion in the Bellandur, Ejipura, and Agaram regions.

“The Defence Ministry has positively responded to our request by providing 22 acres for the road project. The first phase of the 3.50 km development, with an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore, aims to ease traffic flow towards the IT hubs and eastern Bengaluru,” Shivakumar explained.

The BBMP has invited Lt Gen Basant Kumar Repswal, who will retire on September 30, to recognize his support for this initiative. “This project will significantly benefit the residents of Bengaluru, particularly those commuting to IT hubs in the eastern part of the city,” Shivakumar added.
