A man and his nephew lost their lives in a shooting incident while celebrating Diwali outside their home in Delhi’s Shahdara area. The attack, which took place around 8 pm on Thursday, was orchestrated by a 16-year-old boy, who allegedly hired a shooter over a financial dispute. The shocking event was captured on CCTV.
The victims, 44-year-old Akash Sharma and his 16-year-old nephew Rishabh Sharma, were celebrating Diwali with Akash’s 10-year-old son, Krish, when the shooting unfolded. The CCTV footage shows the teenage suspect approaching Mr. Sharma on a two-wheeler, greeting him by touching his feet. Moments later, the hired gunman opened fire, shooting Mr. Sharma multiple times, killing him on the spot, and injuring his son. Rishabh, who ran after the attackers, was also shot and died.
Police reports indicate that the teenage suspect had lent money to Mr. Sharma, who had allegedly failed to repay the amount. The crime was premeditated, with the accused planning it 17 days in advance. Both the detained minor and the victim’s family reportedly have prior cases against them.
