Jerusalem (AP): A drone was launched toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea on Saturday, though neither the prime minister nor his wife were home at the time, the government reported. No casualties were reported from the incident.
The attack comes amid rising hostilities between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, a militant group aligned with Hamas and backed by Iran. Earlier in the day, sirens sounded across northern Israel, warning of incoming fire from Lebanon.
Hezbollah Intensifies Offensive Following Leader’s Death
Hezbollah has ramped up its attacks, threatening to deploy more guided missiles and explosive drones. This escalation follows the death of the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli airstrike in late September. Israel has also moved ground troops into Lebanon as part of its ongoing military operations.
Ongoing Conflict with Hamas
Simultaneously, Israel continues its military campaign against Hamas in Gaza. Both sides have shown little interest in ending the war following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar earlier this week.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, addressed Sinwar’s death, calling it a significant loss but emphasizing that Hamas remains resilient. “Hamas is alive and will stay alive,” Khamenei remarked, underscoring Iran’s support for the group.
The situation on both the Lebanese and Gazan fronts remains volatile, with no immediate signs of de-escalation.
