Bengaluru: An electric scooter burst into flames on BEML Layout Road in RR Nagar, Bengaluru, on Saturday, drawing attention to safety issues surrounding electric vehicles. The scooter, ridden by local resident Shivanand, caught fire unexpectedly as he was en route from his office in RR Nagar to Nagarbhavi.
Shivanand noticed smoke coming from the scooter and quickly stopped at the roadside. Shortly after, flames engulfed the vehicle. Nearby residents acted swiftly, removing the battery and dousing the flames with water, managing to control the fire before it could spread or cause injuries.
Though no one was harmed, the scooter suffered extensive damage. RR Nagar police arrived on the scene and have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. This incident highlights concerns about the safety of electric scooters, particularly battery-related risks, as their popularity grows in urban areas.
