Extremely Dangerous and Shameful’: Union Home Minister Shah Criticizes Congress Over Drug Bust Involvement

NEW DELHI: On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party regarding the alleged connection of one of its leaders to a significant drug bust worth Rs 5,600 crore that was recently confiscated in Delhi.

In a post on X, Amit Shah stated, “While the Modi Government is committed to a zero-tolerance stance towards achieving a ‘Drug Free India,’ the involvement of a prominent Congress leader in the Rs 5,600 crore drug seizure from North India is both extremely dangerous and shameful.”

He went on to accuse Congress of attempting to lead the youth into the “dark world of drugs,” assuring that the political influence wielded by the Congress leader to draw young people into drug-related issues will not be tolerated by Modi.

“Everyone has witnessed the impact of drugs on youth in Punjab, Haryana, and throughout North India during Congress’s governance. While the Modi government promotes sports, education, and innovation for the youth, Congress seeks to plunge them into drug abuse,” Shah further commented.

He emphasized, “The wrongdoing of Congress leaders exploiting their political positions to endanger youth with drugs will not be allowed under the Modi government. Our administration is committed to making India a ‘drug-free country’ by dismantling the entire drug network, irrespective of the political standing of the dealers involved,” stated Home Minister Shah.

Shah’s comments followed the Delhi Police’s dismantling of an international drug syndicate and the seizure of drugs valued at Rs 5600 crore. Authorities have identified Tushar Goyal, reportedly a Congress party official, as the main suspect and orchestrator behind this operation.

According to Additional CP Kushwaha, 15 kg of cocaine was found in the possession of Tushar Goyal, along with two other accused individuals, while the remainder of the marijuana and cocaine was located in a storage facility. The police noted that Tushar Goyal admitted during questioning that he had briefly served as the head of the Delhi Congress’ RTI Cell.”
