New Delhi: In a major disruption to rail services, at least 11 wagons of a goods train carrying iron ore derailed late Tuesday in Telangana’s Peddapalli district. The incident, which occurred between Raghavapuram and Ramagundam stations, led to the cancellation of 20 passenger trains, officials said. Thankfully, no injuries or casualties were reported.

South Central Railway officials quickly mobilized restoration efforts, with teams working to remove the derailed wagons and repair the track damage. A spokesperson from South Central Railway stated, “We are working tirelessly to restore the tracks and minimize disruption in train services. Passenger safety is our top priority, and every effort is being made to complete track restoration as soon as possible.”

In addition to the cancellations, four trains were partially cancelled, ten were rerouted, two rescheduled, and three were regulated to manage the traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to passengers.

The incident follows a recent derailment of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express, where three coaches derailed near Howrah, West Bengal, on November 9. That derailment involved a third AC economy, a third AC, and a parcel van as the train was crossing tracks.
