Hubballi: In the wake of seven arrests in Bengaluru Rural’s Jigani area for allegedly possessing fake Indian passports, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has indicated that more Pakistani nationals residing illegally will soon be apprehended.
Parameshwara stated, “The central agencies like RAW and IB should keep an eye on these matters. How did they reach Bengaluru and obtain passports? This points to a lapse on the part of central agencies. Our police acted swiftly upon receiving information and did an excellent job arresting them. We’ve received further information about additional Pakistani nationals staying here, and they will also be arrested.”
On September 29, Bengaluru police detained four foreign nationals living illegally in India from the Jigani area. Following this, three more Pakistani nationals—a couple and their daughter—were arrested.
The Home Minister revealed that these individuals had been residing in the country for the past ten years and moved to Bengaluru a year ago. He questioned the intelligence agencies’ inability to detect their presence sooner and noted that they possessed fake Indian passports.
“As per the information I have, they’ve been in India for the last ten years and came to Bengaluru a year ago. I don’t have detailed information about their entire stay, but if they’ve been here for a decade, why didn’t the intelligence agencies notice? They even went ahead and created fake passports, which necessitates a thorough investigation,” Parameshwara remarked. He added that the police have initiated inquiries into their reasons for being in India.
Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police C K Baba confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. “They possess fake Indian passports. We are verifying all the details,” Baba said.
