BENGALURU: Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy asserted that he will take legal action in response to a complaint made by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Chandrashekar regarding an alleged illegal mining case. Kumaraswamy claims that the complaint against him is politically motivated.

Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, he stated, “The officer alleges I threatened him. Where’s the evidence of that? I have presented my remarks backed by evidence. How can that be seen as a threat? I will not be intimidated by this, and he should not fear me either.”

Kumaraswamy acknowledged holding a press conference about the officer, noting, “The media reported my statements. Everyone is aware of the letter the officer sent to his colleagues after that conference.” He mentioned that investigations into mining allegations against him have been ongoing for 12 years.

He added, “This issue will go to court, and I will confront it there. I am not afraid to face it, and he shouldn’t be afraid of me either. I have always cooperated with the investigations. Have I ever refused to attend?” He suggested that certain individuals within the state Congress government are politically motivated.

Kumaraswamy emphasized, “The complaint against me is politically driven. The government is backing the officer who filed it. Let them support him; there’s a court, and I will present my case there. I trust the judiciary.” The ADGP’s formal complaint accuses Kumaraswamy of making false accusations and threatening him to impede an ongoing investigation into illegal mining activities.
