Agra, November 4: An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in a field near Agra on Monday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the pilot ejected safely before the impact, sources confirmed.
Eyewitnesses shared visuals on social media showing the jet engulfed in flames shortly after the crash. While the exact cause remains unknown, the IAF announced that a Court of Inquiry will be conducted to investigate the incident thoroughly.
This crash comes just two months after another MiG-29 went down in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on September 2 due to a critical technical snag. In that incident as well, the pilot ejected safely, with no loss of life reported.
The MiG-29, one of the backbone fighter jets of the IAF, has encountered various technical issues in recent years, leading to increased scrutiny of the fleet’s maintenance and operational standards. Further updates on the Agra incident are expected following the inquiry.
