The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to attempt a new Limca Book of Records on October 6 with a grand air show at Chennai’s Marina Beach, leading up to its 92nd Air Force Day celebrations. The event promises to showcase the IAF’s prowess and is expected to draw a massive crowd.

Air Force Day, commemorated on October 8 at the Tambaram Air Force Station, will feature the theme “Bharatiya Vayusena: Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar,” meaning “Indian Air Force: Capable, Strong, and Self-reliant.” A highlight of the celebrations will be a grand flypast involving 72 aircraft from 22 different categories.

During the Marina Beach flypast, attendees will witness an impressive lineup of fighter jets such as the Su-30, MiG-29, and Jaguars, alongside helicopters like the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk4. The Navy’s P8I and the vintage Dakota aircraft will also make special appearances.

An estimated 1 to 1.2 million spectators are expected to gather to see iconic formations like Arrowhead, Trishul, and Rudra, as well as exhilarating aerobatic performances by the IAF’s Surya Kiran and Sarang teams.

The two-hour event will culminate with aerial drills and formations named Sagar, Akash, and Dhwaj. These celebrations aim to emphasize the IAF’s commitment to national security, its progress towards self-reliance, and ongoing modernization efforts, showcasing India’s advancing air defense capabilities.
