Tumkur:
The Karnataka government has been presented with a proposal for the construction of the state’s second international airport in Tumkur, Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara announced.

Speaking at a press conference following the Republic Day celebrations, Dr. Parameshwara congratulated the district administration for organizing a grand event. “Tumkur is one of the prestigious districts of Karnataka, ranking third in size. With 11 assembly constituencies, its proximity to Bengaluru makes it a rapidly growing region,” he said.

He emphasized the developmental potential of Tumkur, stating, “In the next 10 years, Tumkur will match Bengaluru in growth and development. The government is committed to this vision. I have already requested approval for the airport near Tumkur, which will be a milestone for the region.”

According to Dr. Parameshwara, two locations have been identified for the proposed airport:

  1. Around 3,000 acres near Vasantanarasapura.
  2. Around 4,000 acres stretching from the CB Temple area in Madhugiri to Koratagere.

The minister assured that the proposal has been submitted to the government, and efforts will be made to push this initiative beyond political barriers.

Additionally, Dr. Parameshwara shared plans for other infrastructure projects, including a glass bridge at Amanikere to connect highlands and the development of a bird park. A model HAL helicopter will also be installed at the Town Hall Circle to honor the region’s advancements.

This proposal, if approved, will position Tumkur as a hub of economic and infrastructural growth, marking its significance on the global map.
