New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced that Jharkhand will hold its Assembly elections in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the counting of votes set for November 23.

This marks the conclusion of a significant election year that also includes the Maharashtra Assembly polls. Jharkhand, an eastern state with a voter base of 2.6 crore people, will see candidates competing for 81 Assembly seats. A party or coalition needs to secure at least 41 seats to achieve a majority and form the government.

The first phase of voting will commence on November 13, followed by the second phase on November 20. The Election Commission’s announcement sets the stage for political parties to ramp up their campaigns and present their agendas to the electorate.

As the election dates approach, both national and regional parties are expected to intensify their efforts to win over voters in this resource-rich state. Key issues likely to dominate the campaigns include employment, development, and social welfare.
