WASHINGTON: Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts is slated to be honored with an honorary Cesar Award at the esteemed 50th Cesar Awards ceremony in Paris, scheduled for February 28, 2025, at the renowned Olympia Hall, with live coverage on Canal+, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In a statement acquired by The Hollywood Reporter, the French film academy, which presents the Cesars, commended Roberts, stating, “Julia Roberts is not only a movie star but also a cultural icon whose influence extends far beyond her performances.” The academy also emphasized her philanthropic contributions, highlighting her role as a UNICEF ambassador and her active involvement in global humanitarian initiatives. Furthermore, Roberts has been a strong advocate for environmental causes, lending her voice to documentaries aimed at protecting the planet and championing women’s rights.
Roberts first gained attention in Hollywood with her role in ‘Mystic Pizza’ in 1988, but it was her portrayal of Vivian Ward in the 1990 classic ‘Pretty Woman’ that propelled her to international stardom.
