Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah sharply criticized state BJP president BY Vijayendra on Saturday, challenging him to address internal party issues before calling out Congress on governance. The back-and-forth began when Vijayendra questioned the Congress government’s performance, accusing it of failing to deliver on promises while being marred by corruption and neglect.
Taking to social media, Siddaramaiah pointed to previous allegations within the BJP, referencing statements from senior BJP leaders Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Ramesh Jarakiholi. He recalled accusations that Vijayendra’s father, former CM BS Yediyurappa, allegedly paid substantial sums to the BJP high command to secure his position, adding that similar allegations were made about Vijayendra’s own ascent to BJP state president.
“Before debating with me, have a round of discussion with your own party leaders,” Siddaramaiah posted on X (formerly Twitter). He further challenged Vijayendra to address the accusations within his party, rather than deflecting criticisms onto the Congress government.
Vijayendra previously posted on X, alleging that the Congress government has achieved little in its term, accusing it of corruption and neglecting marginalized groups. The ongoing verbal duel underscores the escalating tensions between the Congress and BJP in Karnataka as both parties prepare for upcoming political challenges.
