Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) hit back at allegations surrounding a recent police raid on a family gathering at his brother-in-law’s farmhouse. The event, which was allegedly misrepresented as a ‘rave party,’ has sparked a political storm, with accusations flying between the BRS, Congress, and BJP.
The Cyberabad police claimed they found foreign liquor and one person tested positive for cocaine, although no drugs were seized at the location. Of the 21 men detained, only they were tested for narcotics, while 14 women present were not. The individual who tested positive was identified as Vijay Madduri.
KTR’s Strong Denial: “Baseless Rumors and Malicious Campaign”
KTR dismissed the allegations, accusing both the Congress and BJP of spreading false narratives. “The morning police report said no drugs were found, but a malicious campaign started soon after,” he said, questioning the discrepancy between the initial raid report and the subsequent police case.
He criticized the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act charges against Raj Pakala (his brother-in-law) as unfounded. “How can they invoke the NDPS Act when no drugs were found?” KTR asked, denouncing the allegations as a political conspiracy to tarnish his and his family’s reputation.
“Is it wrong to celebrate Diwali with family? Do we need permission for such gatherings?” KTR asked, explaining that the farmhouse gathering was part of a housewarming ceremony.
BJP and Congress Trade Accusations
The BJP also jumped into the fray, with Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar demanding an in-depth investigation, alleging that close associates of KTR were involved in the incident. “We demand the seizure of passports of all high-profile individuals and public release of CCTV footage,” Kumar stated, referring to KTR mockingly as “Twitter Tillu.”
Meanwhile, the ruling Congress defended its actions, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy dismissing the BRS’s accusations of political conspiracy. Congress accused KTR and his party of trying to dodge accountability by turning the issue into a political controversy.
BRS Allegations of a Political Trap
The BRS accused both Congress and BJP of “match-fixing” to malign the party ahead of elections. KTR vowed to fight the allegations legally, calling it an attempt to derail their political movement.
“Unable to challenge us politically, they are resorting to conspiracies, but we are not afraid,” KTR asserted. He accused the Congress of spreading falsehoods to divert attention from the “civil supplies scam” and other corruption allegations against the Chief Minister.
The controversy surrounding the farmhouse raid has escalated into a political battle among Telangana’s top parties, with each side leveling accusations of misconduct, conspiracy, and political vendetta. The BRS remains adamant that no illegal activity took place, while the BJP and Congress demand full accountability and transparency in the investigation.
