Srinagar : In a large-scale anti-terror operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police dismantled a newly formed terror group, Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim (TLM), after conducting coordinated raids across multiple districts in the region. The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing led the crackdown, with authorities stating that TLM operates as an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), reportedly directed by a Pakistani handler known by the alias ‘Baba Hamas.’
The operation, aimed at disrupting recruitment efforts by TLM, was carried out in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama. Intelligence inputs revealed that the group was mobilizing young men to join militant activities, contributing to a recent surge in recruitment.
This crackdown follows a terror attack in Ganderbal that claimed seven lives. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha confirmed that two foreign terrorists, believed to have infiltrated from the Bandipora area, were involved in the attack.
Preliminary investigations suggest that TLM, despite being a new organization, shares strong ideological and operational ties with LeT. The group’s handler, ‘Baba Hamas,’ has been coordinating cross-border infiltration, financing, and recruitment.
Security has been tightened across Kashmir, with additional paramilitary forces deployed and checkpoints increased to prevent further escalations. Officials described the operation as a precision effort to neutralize key operatives responsible for mobilizing new recruits.
