Mangaluru || One Arrested as Fake ED Officers Rob Businessman of ₹30 Lakh, Hunt for Others Continues

Mangaluru: In a daring robbery, a group of six men posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers targeted a businessman’s residence and stole ₹30 lakh in cash. The Mangaluru police have arrested one suspect, 49-year-old Anil Fernandes, a resident of Kollam, Kerala, while the hunt for the remaining five suspects is underway.

The police have recovered a getaway car, ₹5 lakh in cash, and other stolen properties from the accused. According to authorities, the gang meticulously executed the crime, using their fake identities to gain access to the businessman’s home and make away with the money.

Four special investigation teams, comprising officers and experts from various police stations in the Dakshina Kannada district, have been assigned to the case. These teams are known for solving similar high-profile robberies and are working tirelessly to track down the absconding suspects.

“The arrested individual is being interrogated to gather leads on the other culprits. We are confident of apprehending the rest of the gang soon,” a senior police official said.

The case has raised concerns about the increasing sophistication of criminal activities and the misuse of government agency identities to commit fraud. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
