Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family face land scam allegations

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his astonishment at his wife’s decision to return the 14 plots assigned to her by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). On the social media platform X, he commented that his wife, Parvati, has endured significant hardship due to the political maneuvers aimed at undermining him. He conveyed regret for involving her in these political issues, which have caused her mental distress as a victim of the political vendetta against him.

“My wife, Parvati, has decided to surrender the plots of land acquired by MUDA, which lacked proper compensation. It is known that opposition parties have unjustly targeted me with false accusations to pursue their political agenda, pulling my family into this controversy. I’ve always believed that we must stand against this injustice without yielding,” Siddaramaiah stated on X.

He added, “It surprises me that my wife, who has steered clear of politics for decades and focused solely on family, has opted to return these plots. I regret that she has faced mental harassment due to this political conspiracy aimed at me.”

On Monday, after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed money laundering charges against Siddaramaiah related to an alleged MUDA land allotment scam, his wife reached out to the MUDA Commissioner, offering to return the plots in question. Additionally, on September 27, the Lokayukta Police initiated an FIR against Siddaramaiah and others regarding this alleged scam, prompted by a Special Court in Bengaluru’s directive to investigate the illegal allotment of valuable sites to his wife. The Mysuru Lokayukta has begun an official inquiry into the matter.
