Mysuru: The District Police have intensified security for ‘Yuva Dasara’ by deploying 1,239 personnel to ensure the safety of attendees. This major attraction of the Mysuru Dasara festivities is set to commence on Sunday, October 6, at a new venue on the outskirts of Mysuru city and is expected to draw large crowds, especially youth.

At a press conference on Friday, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy and Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan detailed the preparations and security measures in place for the event.

To accommodate a larger audience, Yuva Dasara has been relocated to a new venue near the Uttanahalli temple, off the ring road, under the jurisdiction of the Mysuru South Police Station. The site in Bandipalya is a vacant plot capable of hosting up to 80,000 people.

Superintendents of Police will oversee security at the venue. From October 6 to 10, a total of 1,239 police personnel will be exclusively deployed for Yuva Dasara. This includes 12 Deputy SPs, 37 police inspectors, 76 police sub-inspectors, 110 assistant sub-inspectors, 600 head constables, 100 women police constables, and 300 home guards.

For traffic management, two inspectors, six sub-inspectors, 10 assistant sub-inspectors, and 50 head constables and constables from the traffic division will be stationed at the venue, which offers parking facilities. SP Vishnuvardhan also announced the deployment of six Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) teams, 10 District Armed Reserve platoons, 10 Army Service Corps teams, four Quick Response teams, two ambulances, two fire department vehicles, and a mobile command vehicle.

The Deputy Commissioner and the SP assured that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of attendees, including precautions due to the venue’s proximity to the Chamundi foothills, a habitat for some wild animals.

Star-Studded Performances

Yuva Dasara will feature performances by renowned artists:

  • October 6: Singer Shreya Ghoshal and her troupe kick off the event.
  • October 7: Senior Kannada musician Ravi Basrur and his team perform.
  • October 8: Rapper Badshah takes the stage.
  • October 9: Acclaimed music composer A.R. Rahman and his team present a concert.
  • October 10: The finale features legendary composer Ilayaraja.

Organizers noted that programs will start at 6 pm and conclude by 10 pm each day.

Introduction of Ticketing System

For the first time since Yuva Dasara began, a ticketing system has been implemented. Attendees seeking guaranteed seating closer to the stage can purchase tickets priced at:

  • Gallery 1: ₹8,000 per person
  • Gallery 2: ₹5,000 per person
  • Additional options at ₹2,500 and ₹1,500 per person are also available.
