DAUSA (Rajasthan): A two-year-old girl was successfully rescued from a 35-foot open borewell in Dausa on Thursday, following an 18-hour operation by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). After her rescue, the girl was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Police Superintendent Ranjita Sharma thanked the NDRF and SDRF teams for their successful rescue, stating, “We are thrilled to have rescued the girl after 18 hours of hard work. It was a challenging task, but with the teams’ help, we managed to bring her out safely. She is now receiving medical care. I appreciate everyone involved in this effort,” she said.

Yogesh Kumar from the NDRF noted that the girl was trapped at 28 feet deep, leading to the decision to implement a parallel excavation for her rescue. “Although we initially faced challenges in securing her from the borewell, we were able to reach her sandal at 21 feet successfully. We prioritized her safety throughout the operation. The rain caused delays in the rescue efforts. In total, 30 personnel from NDRF and 10 from SDRF participated in the operation,” Kumar added.

Earlier, District Collector Devendra Kumar mentioned the difficulties the teams were facing due to the rain but assured that they were doing everything possible to rescue the girl. “We’ve been employing both parallel and horizontal digging techniques. The ongoing rain has made it more challenging, but our efforts continue,” he explained.

The girl had fallen into the open borewell in the Bandikui area of Dausa on Wednesday, prompting an immediate response from the district administration to initiate rescue operations.
