Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has been awarded YouTube’s coveted ‘Golden Button,’ celebrating his channel’s achievement of surpassing one million subscribers. The award, symbolizing Gadkari’s popularity and influence on the platform, was presented by Ajay Vidyasagar, Regional Director of YouTube at Google Asia Pacific.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Gadkari expressed his gratitude, calling the award a “symbol of people’s trust and support” and thanking YouTube for acknowledging the public’s appreciation. “Honored to receive the Golden Button for sharing the journey with you all! Thank you, YouTube!” he wrote, accompanied by a video of the award ceremony.
Mr. Gadkari’s YouTube channel has become a major platform for the public to connect with his work, featuring over 4,200 videos. His content includes coverage of inaugural ceremonies, updates on road infrastructure projects, and speeches on a range of topics, frequently delivered at events and organizations across the country.
In 2021, Mr. Gadkari pinned a personal video titled “Things to Know About Nitin Gadkari,” where he presents himself as a “visionary leader with an impressive track record.” The video has since remained a prominent feature on his channel, introducing viewers to his life and mission in public service.
Gadkari’s success on YouTube reflects the public’s interest in India’s road development initiatives and infrastructure achievements. The Golden Button is awarded to creators who reach one million subscribers, marking a milestone that few political leaders achieve on social media platforms.
