Mumbai: A majority of Indian employees crave recognition from senior leadership as a key factor in promoting a positive workplace culture, according to a report by global job site Indeed. The study found that 63% of employees feel acknowledgment from leaders significantly boosts morale, and 62% report feeling happier when their efforts are appreciated by their team.
The report, based on interviews with 3,005 participants, including both C-Suite executives and employees, highlights how validation, inclusion, and creativity contribute to a supportive workplace environment. About 58% of employees emphasized the importance of having their ideas welcomed by colleagues, while 64% noted that encouragement of creative thinking fosters a stronger sense of connection and satisfaction at work.
“Recognition and a safe, open environment are essential for a thriving workplace. Employees want their voices to be heard, and companies that prioritize recognition and inclusion will be better equipped to attract and retain motivated talent,” said Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India.
An open and inclusive workplace culture was shown to empower employees, with 61% stating that they felt more engaged in environments that support open communication and idea-sharing. By fostering recognition, creativity, and inclusion, companies can create a culture where employees feel connected to their roles and motivated to succeed.
