New Delhi: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader in Punjab was injured after being shot during a heated argument with a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal. The incident occurred in the Fazilka district of Punjab.
Local AAP leader Mandeep Singh Brar sustained a bullet wound and was initially taken to a government hospital in Jalalabad. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to the district medical center in Ludhiana for further treatment, according to reports.
Jalalabad AAP MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy alleged that the shot was fired by Akali leader Vardev Singh Mann. The confrontation happened outside the office of the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO). Upon learning of the incident, Fazilka’s senior police officer, Varinder Singh Brar, rushed to Jalalabad.
According to Mr. Brar, Vardev Singh Noni Mann, son of former MP Zora Singh Mann, had visited the BDPO office to inquire about the clearance of a file related to a school. When the BDPO declined their request, the Akali leaders appeared visibly upset and left the office. Outside, they reportedly engaged in a clash with AAP leader Mandeep Singh Brar, during which the shot was allegedly fired by Akali leader Vardev Singh.
