New Delhi: Today, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her ministers took to the streets to assess the condition of the roads in the capital as part of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s initiative to eliminate potholes by Diwali.
“The entire Delhi cabinet has been on-site since 6 am to evaluate the roads and ensure all Public Works Department (PWD) routes in Delhi are free of potholes. I have overseen road installations in areas like NSIC Okhla, Modi Mill flyover, Chirag Delhi, Tughlakabad extension, Mathura Road, Ashram Chowk, and various underpasses,” Chief Minister Atishi shared on X.
She noted that the roads were in disrepair, causing traffic issues for the public. “I have directed officials to expedite the repair process,” she stated. “Under Arvind Kejriwal’s guidance, we aim to provide pothole-free roads to the residents of Delhi by Diwali,” Atishi added.
Earlier, former Chief Minister Kejriwal reassured the public that work that had stopped due to his arrest would recommence. “I visited Delhi University with Atishi yesterday and noticed the poor condition of the road. Today, we are back here. I urge Atishi to evaluate all the PWD roads in Delhi over the next 3-4 days. Our MLAs and ministers will participate in this assessment, and repairs on all damaged roads will be prioritized in the coming months to prevent further issues for residents.”
Earlier this month, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena conducted an inspection in west Delhi, stating that residents were experiencing conditions worse than hell due to government negligence and administrative indifference.
