Udupi: A woman, with the alleged help of her lover, is accused of poisoning and killing her husband, sparking a detailed police investigation. The accused, Dilip Hegde (28) from Karkala, is currently in custody for questioning.
The incident came to light after a complaint was filed by Sanjeev Poojari, the victim’s father. According to the complaint, Pratima (36) allegedly poisoned her husband, Balakrishna Poojari (44), at their home in Depputte, Ajjarkadu, on October 20, with Dilip’s assistance.
An autopsy was carried out at Manipal Hospital, and forensic tests are underway to confirm whether poison was involved. Samples from the victim’s body have been sent to a forensic lab for analysis.
On Saturday, police took Dilip to a chemical store in Olakadu, near Udupi, to reconstruct the crime, as he allegedly purchased the poison there. Investigators have seized the vehicle, scooter, mobile phone, and SIM card connected to the case.
Meanwhile, Pratima has been brought before the court and placed in judicial custody until November 7, as the investigation continues.
