Raebareli: In a shocking incident from Nasirabad, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, Sushil Sharma, a village head’s representative, has accused the local police of mistreatment after he was detained for organizing a ‘nautanki’ program without official permission. According to Sharma, he was forced to lick his spit by police officers who accused him of “creating chaos.”
The incident reportedly took place on October 30, when Sharma organized a cultural event in Kapurpur village without prior authorization. According to Superintendent of Police Yashveer Singh, Sharma and his associates allegedly disrupted the event while intoxicated, causing public disorder and clashing with the local police team. Five individuals, including Sharma, were detained for disorderly conduct.
Sharma, however, claims the police arrived late at night and ordered the event to end immediately. He further alleges that he was physically assaulted and forced to lick his spit while in custody. Additionally, he accused Nasirabad Station House Officer (SHO) Shivakant Pandey of demanding a ₹2 lakh bribe.
Following the incident, the Rashtriya Panchayati Raj Gram Pradhan Sangathan submitted a written complaint to the Superintendent of Police, demanding accountability for alleged police misconduct. The Raebareli police department has assigned the Additional Superintendent of Police to investigate the accusations and assured action based on the findings.
The incident has raised concerns about police conduct and citizens’ rights, with local organizations urging authorities to ensure fair treatment and transparency in the ongoing investigation.
