Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli has once again rewritten history books, becoming the fastest batter to reach 14,000 ODI runs. The milestone came during India’s Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Pakistan in Dubai, as Kohli surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record in just 287 innings—a feat that took Tendulkar 350 innings.
With this, Kohli joins an elite club alongside Kumar Sangakkara, who reached the 14,000-run mark in 378 innings, but remains the first batter ever to achieve this milestone in under 300 innings.
Kohli needed just 15 runs to reach the landmark and did so in style, smashing a boundary off Haris Rauf. He then went on to score his 51st ODI century, remaining unbeaten on 100 off 111 balls.
India Thrashes Pakistan to Near Semifinal Spot
India dominated the much-anticipated encounter, chasing down 242 in just 42.3 overs to secure a six-wicket win. Key contributions came from:
Shubman Gill (46 off 52)
Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67)
Skipper Rohit Sharma (20 off 15), who played an aggressive cameo.
Earlier, Pakistan managed only 241 runs, with Saud Shakeel (62 off 76) and Mohammad Rizwan (46 off 77) offering resistance. India’s bowlers shone, with:
Kuldeep Yadav (3/40)
Hardik Pandya (2/31), dismissing Babar Azam (23) & Shakeel
With two wins in two games, India is on the brink of a semifinal spot, while Pakistan faces possible elimination after back-to-back defeats.
